Biography

Tuan was born in Saarland, Germany and is currently based in Dresden.

He trained at London Contemporary Dance School, graduating with an MA in Dance Practice.

Tuan danced for choreographer Maresa Von Stockert from 2014-2018, performing and touring in her work across the UK, France, and Germany. He then performed in composer Heiner Goebbels’ production ‘Everything that Happened and Would Happen’, which was on tour internationally between 2018-2020.

In 2020, Tuan joined Landesbühnen Sachsen’s dance ensemble under the direction of Karolina Dieter and Wagner Moreira, followed by Natalie Wagner from season 2022-2023.

He has performed internationally in galleries, theatres and at festivals such as the Park Avenue Armory in New York, the Saatchi Gallery, Tate Britain, and the V&A Museum in London, the Ruhrtriennale and at Staatsoper Hannover/Tanztheater International in Germany, Viva Cité Festival in Rouen, France, and the Edinburgh Fringe, amongst many others.

 

Previously, Tuan trained and performed in physical theatre from 2006-2013 working in the UK with companies such as New International Encounter, Moonfool, and touring in productions by theatre director Kasia Zaremba-Byrne.

He has danced in works by J Neve Harrington (UK), Gary Clarke (UK), Willi Dorner (AT), Rui Xu (CN), Yotam Peled (IL/DE) and has been guest dancer with Theatre Traverse in Luxembourg and Theater der Klänge in Düsseldorf, Germany, amongst others. 

He regularly supports the works of collaborators such as Sebastian Abarbanell, Khadi Bangoura, and Minh Duc Pham.

 

Directing and choreography credits include work at Paines Plough, Oval House Theatre, Battersea Arts Centre, Kampnagel Hamburg, JES Stuttgart, Landesbühnen Sachsen and The Place London.

He has taught dance and led theatre workshops to professional and community performers at Dock11 Berlin, 3CL Luxembourg, Palucca Dresden, T.A.N.Z. Braunschweig, Echodrama Greece, The Point Eastleigh, Hoxton Hall, National Youth Theatre UK, St. Mary's University, and the University of Surrey.
